San Antonio’s Pearl Tees Up a Quirky New Mini Golf Experience

by Tre Serrano

What’s the newest attraction coming to San Antonio’s Pearl district?

Get ready to grab your putters, San Antonio — a unique miniature golf course is on its way to the historic Pearl. Dubbed Pearl Putt, the 18-hole course will bring playful competition, quirky design, and nods to Alamo City landmarks right into one of the city’s most popular destinations.

A Playful Twist on Local History

The design team behind Gruene Mini Golf is spearheading the project, and they’re infusing the course with details that reflect San Antonio’s culture and Pearl’s brewing heritage.

Highlights will include:

  • Miniature landmarks like the Alamo and Tower of the Americas

  • Props and finishes inspired by Pearl properties, including the black-and-white tile at the Cellars apartments and the historic brickwork across the district

  • Pearl Beer tributes, such as a rock waterfall inspired by the brand’s “country of 1100 springs” campaign and stained glass reminiscent of the Jersey Lilly Saloon

This thoughtful design blends nostalgia with fun, making Pearl Putt an attraction for both locals and visitors.

Location and Construction Timeline

Pearl Putt will be located at 250 E. Grayson St., tucked into a 6,700-square-foot tract of unused brick-paved land near Stable Hall and 1100 Springs Plaza.

A filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation noted construction was scheduled to begin August 1 and wrap by late October, although the project remains under review with San Antonio’s Historic and Design Review Commission (HDRC). The commission is set to discuss approval at its August 6 meeting.

Mini Golf’s Comeback in San Antonio

Pearl Putt is arriving at just the right time. Mini golf has been making a big comeback in San Antonio over the past two years.

  • In October 2024, PopStroke, a Florida-based franchise co-designed by Tiger Woods, opened near Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

  • In December 2024, Holey Moley Golf Club, an Australian concept, opened at the Shops at Rivercenter with its own creative take on themed courses.

The addition of Pearl Putt shows the city’s appetite for entertainment options that combine leisure, local culture, and a dash of competition.

What to Expect

If Gruene Mini Golf is any indicator, guests can anticipate plenty of colorful obstacles, whimsical hazards, and Instagram-worthy backdrops. At Pearl Putt, the emphasis will be on San Antonio’s story — from historic breweries to iconic monuments — making the course a playful showcase of the city’s character.

The Takeaway

San Antonio’s Pearl has already established itself as a hub for dining, shopping, and events. With Pearl Putt on the way, it’s set to add a whole new layer of fun to the mix. Whether you’re a mini golf fan, a local history buff, or just looking for a creative outing, this quirky course will soon offer an experience that’s uniquely San Antonio.
