Shelly Duvalls Ranch

A unique piece of Texas and Hollywood history is now on the market. The late actress Shelley Duvall’s Blanco ranch, located at 404 Red Bud Trail, has been listed for $699,000. The nearly 11-acre property offers privacy, convenience, and a direct connection to one of cinema’s most distinctive talents.
Property Details
The ranch features:
-
A three-bedroom, two-bath home with open floor plan
-
Stone flooring and wood accents throughout
-
A butler’s pantry, sunroom, and two-car garage
-
Several outbuildings across the property
While the home needs repairs and updates, the listing by Rodney Topper of Topper Real Estate highlights the property’s potential. “It presents an incredible opportunity to restore and customize a piece of both Texas and Hollywood history,” the write-up notes.
Perfectly positioned just an hour from San Antonio and Austin, and only minutes from downtown Blanco, the ranch blends rural privacy with accessibility.
Shelley Duvall’s Legacy
Born in Fort Worth, Shelley Duvall became an unlikely star when director Robert Altman cast her in Brewster McCloud (1970). She went on to become one of his most memorable muses, appearing in Thieves Like Us, Nashville, 3 Women, and Popeye.
Her most famous role came in 1980 as Wendy Torrance in Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. Though the production was notoriously grueling, Duvall’s performance solidified her as a household name. Over her career, she worked with an impressive roster of acclaimed directors, including Woody Allen, Terry Gilliam, Jane Campion, Steven Soderbergh, and Tim Burton.
For younger generations, Duvall is often remembered as the warm host of Faerie Tale Theatre and Shelley Duvall’s Bedtime Stories, beloved children’s programs she produced and starred in.
Duvall passed away in July 2024 at the age of 75, after a long battle with diabetes. Her death marked the end of an eclectic career and a complicated but enduring legacy in both Hollywood and Texas.
A Rare Opportunity
Beyond the ranch listing, fans will soon have another chance to connect with her legacy. While many of Duvall’s personal effects were sold in an estate sale in September, an October 30th auction will offer select memorabilia, including vintage clothing, décor, and keepsakes from her most iconic roles.
For buyers, this property is more than just a home — it’s a chance to own a piece of cultural history, set in the heart of the Texas Hill Country.
