Taroko Sports Swings Into Northwest San Antonio

by Tre Serrano

San Antonio is set to welcome a new kind of family fun. Taroko Sports, a Taiwanese entertainment chain that blends batting cages, arcade games, and casual dining, is opening its first location in the Alamo City at Park North Shopping Center, 618 NW Loop 410.

This marks Taroko’s continued expansion into the U.S. market, following its April debut in Katy, Texas, and a second location in Mesa, Arizona. The company also announced plans for future centers in Los Angeles, Houston, and San Antonio.

Batting Cages and High-Tech Baseball Experiences

At the core of Taroko Sports is baseball. Guests can enjoy:

  • Batting cages for casual swings or training

  • A pitching mound for pitchers to test their skills

  • The HitTrax Suite, an augmented reality baseball module that lets players experience famous stadiums, track their stats, and even join competitive leagues

“Our goal is to make baseball fun and accessible — not just for athletes, but for everyone,” said Gordon Hsieh, founder and CEO of TRK Corporation. “Taroko Sports is about creating a space where families, friends, and coworkers can come together to play, compete, and connect.”

Beyond Baseball: Games, Food, and Fun

Taroko Sports also offers activities for those who prefer a different kind of competition, including:

  • Electronic darts

  • Miniature bowling

  • A retro-inspired arcade with classics like Space Invaders, plus cutting-edge 5D simulators

The venue will also feature a restaurant and bar serving crowd favorites like pizza, fries, beer, and seltzers — making it a spot for both family outings and after-work fun.

A Growing Trend in San Antonio

Taroko Sports joins a wave of activity-driven entertainment venues opening in San Antonio. Former Major League Soccer player Brian Ching is developing Pitch 25, a soccer-themed beer garden on the East Side, while the Western-themed Outlaw Pickle is also set to open soon at Park North.

Although Taroko initially aimed for a 2025 debut, new filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation show construction is now slated to wrap up in April 2026. Dates may still shift, but excitement is already building for this one-of-a-kind baseball-themed experience.
