Texas State Parks Salute: Free Access for Military Heroes and Families
With the weather finaly cooling down, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has expanded its Parklands Passports program, bringing great news to Veterans, Active-duty Military Personnel, and their families. Effective immediately, these heroes and their loved ones can now enjoy free access to Texas state parks, thanks to a legislative update in 2023.
This heartwarming gesture underscores Texas's unwavering commitment to recognizing and honoring the sacrifices of our military community. With a valid photo ID and one of several approved documents in hand, such as a DOD-issued veteran's ID card or a state-issued driver's license with veteran designation, they can embark on outdoor adventures without financial constraints. It's a small but meaningful way to express gratitude and provide our heroes with the chance to savor the natural beauty of Texas's state parks, forging cherished memories in the great outdoors.
